ODM Secretary General Edwin Sifuna has accused nominated senator Isaac Mwaura of inciting traders at the Githurai market ahead of opposition leader Raila Odinga’s visit.
Sifuna has shared a video of Mwaura telling the traders to fight for their slots at the newly constructed market expected to be launched by Raila today.
“My friend @MwauraIsaac1 busy inciting traders at Githurai Market ahead of Baba’s tour there this morning. He will be held solely responsible for any ensuing violence,” said Sifuna.
Earlier today Senator Mwaura and Githurai Market Chairman George Wanyoike led a section of Githurai traders to storm the newly built modern market.
This is after reports emerged that some of them were going to be denied space in the market.
According to them, five traders representing a segment of the entire market have been planning to demarcate the 1,200 available stalls denying over 5,000 more traders space to sell their wares.
“Githuirai haitamwagwa damu kwa sababu ya watu wachache, mimi sijajua, mimi sijaambiwa, na wakilet hivwyo tuko tayari kuwaonyesha sisi ndiyo wenyewe hapa,” said Mwaura to the cheering traders.
Meanwhile Raila is has made his way into Githurai.
