ODM MCAs Who Holed Themselves in Kwale  During Sonko’s Impeachment Floored In Nominations

About 80 percent of ODM MCAs in Nairobi who were taken into hiding in Kwale County during the impeachment of former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko have been sent home in just concluded ODM primaries.

The MCAs who were floored include Imara Daima MCA Kennedy Obuya who went to vie for the Karachuonyo Constituency seat in Homabay County. Obuya came number seven with a paltry 195 votes.

His counterpart Jared Okode of Mathare North Constituency who was eyeing the Ruaraka Parliamentary seat did not make it to the nominations after ODM awarded his rival and current MP TJ Kajwang.

Other MCAs who were floored include David Ayoi of Gatina Ward, Evans Otiso of Kwa Reuben Ward, Frederick Onyango Okeyo of Kayole South ward, Mukuru kwa Njenga MCA John Kyalo, Fredrick Omondi- Lucky Summer ward, Nicholus Okumu of Lower Savanna, David Wambua Mbithi Viwandani ward, David Okello of Huruma ward, Maurice Gari -Nairobi West ward, Francis Otieno Dandora IV ward, Paul Shilaho Mahamba-Kangemi ward and nominated MCA Carolyne Mayunzu who was vying for Kangemi ward seat.

ODM party directed all its members to participate fully and impeach the then Nairobi governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko.

At Chungwa House members who defied the directive were sampled and filed. ODM was firm on the matter and condemned those who went to Kwale and against the party’s directive.

“We have like 10 per cent of them who have been elected to represent the Party in the August elections but that does not mean that the party rigged them out, the ODM members in deed floored them… and even those who are remaining and were in Kwale can still loose in the general elections, disobeying the party that sponsored you to the assembly and ascend into power is a serious offence that’s why we say Trust, Loyalty and fidelity to the party is vital,” said an ODM official who did not want to be named.

“This time round ODM will not joke around with those whose loyalty is questionable…when they go to assembly that will apply even to the committees that these MCAs will be allocated…they must learn the hard way,” he added.

ODM election board is yet to decide on the fate of Ngei ward MCA Redson Otieno.
