Oliech: Why I turned down Ksh. 890M Qatari offer

Former Harambee Stars International Dennis Oliech revealed the reasons why he refused to change from Kenyan to Qatari.

The former Kenyan International while speaking in the Ghetto Radio show Offside when asked if he regretted the decision, he said that he isn’t sure if he made the right decision saying that he was afraid of the way he will be treated later on in the country.

‘I wasn’t sure of how they would treat me after they have used me,” he lamented.

“I was afraid that they will start frustrating me by making up stories about life style and restrict my movement, by accusing me of using banned substances,” he quipped.

According to our information the former striker of French Ligue 1 side Auxerre forward is said to have been offered Ksh 800 million to change his allegiance.

Nicknamed the Menace Oliech was considered as one of the best strikers in the country.

His good performance saw him named among the world’s most wanted young players by The Guardian alongside Rooney, Robin Van Persie Wesley Sneijder and Robinho back in 2004.

Oliech began his career with boyhood club Mathare United before joining Al Arabi in Qatar, French sides Nantes, Auxerre and Ajaccio as well as Dubai Cultural Sports Club in United Arab Emirates.
