Winning a gold medal for Omanyala would be historic for Kenya and Africa. The closest African sprinter to victory was Freddie Fredericks of Namibia, who took home silver at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta.
The managing director of CFAO Mobility Kenya, Arvinder Reel, acknowledged Omanyala’s talent and expressed gratitude for having him on the team. “We wish Omanyala the best on his second Olympic appearance,” Reel stated. Despite the difficulty of the task, we think he is well-prepared. Together with other Kenyans, I will be supporting him as he represents our nation internationally.
Sprinters Kishane Thompson, Noah Lyles, Oblique Seville, Benjamin Richardson, and Akani Simbine are among the opponents Omanyala will face on Saturday. This Sunday, August 4, 2024, will include the semifinals and championship match.
