A woman from Ongata Rongai in Kajiado County is appealing for help to raise Ksh. 1.5 Million to get her ailing daughter a second heart surgery in India.
Mary Waringa says that her four year daughter Faith Wangechi was born with two holes in the heart, a condition that was only diagnosed when she turned two years old.
According to Waringa, the first surgery was done in India after she successfully raised money from well-wishers.
“After a struggle to raise the money needed, Faith was taken to India where she underwent a surgery. A pipe was put in her heart to replace the aorta, which directs oxygenated blood to her whole body,” explains Waringa.
The mother of four says that due to the baby’s low weight, doctors in India could not perform the second surgery.
“However, the doctors could not carry out all the operations required to save the child because baby Wangechi was underweight. Baby Wangechi was two years of age weighing only 4kgs during her first surgery,” she says.
According to her the doctors warned her that if they performed another surgery, the baby would die.
Wangechi was supposed to go back to India after the first surgery, but two years later her mother is yet to raise the money for the other surgeries.
“Wangechi currently lacks enough oxygen, when she cries she turns blue. So I am appealing to well-wishers to help me raise the Ksh. 1.5 Million to take her to India for the second surgery,” she says.
