Nairobi County Assembly speaker Ben Mutura has ordered all MCAs and the county employees to take the Covid-19 test.
Mutura says that no MCA or employee will be allowed inside the assembly without the Covid-19 certificate.
According to Mutura, the Nairobi County Assembly Service Board in conjunction with the Nairobi Metropolitan Services will help facilitate the tests.
“Beginning Friday, 20th November 2020, a negative Covid 19 certificate shall be a prerequisite for accessing the Assembly precincts for both members and staff . In view of this County Assembly Service Board In Collaboration with NMS has organized a free testing exercise which is ongoing at charter hall.” Mutura said.
Mutura has also urged the court clerk to ensure that only a few of the county assembly staff members are allowed inside the assembly.
This directive comes just after another MCA in Naukuru County died of Covid-19.
The directive will take effect tomorrow with the MCAs being urged to conduct their meetings online.
“Visitors will not be allowed in the County Assembly precincts including in committees unless when it is absolutely necessary .Committees intending to invite witnesses shall do so virtually” he added.
