Operations Paralysed As Jumuia Hospital Doctors Down Tools

Operations at the Jumuia Hospital in Mathare’s Huruma slums were today paralysed after doctors at the hospital downed their tools over lack of payment.

Doctors at the hospital say they have stayed for more than for months without salaries.

James Kimani a doctor at the hospital says that the hospital’s administration has been playing games with them and telling them to wait for another hospital staff in Kaimosi to be paid before they get their dues.

The hospital which is apparently owned by the National Council of Churches has allegedly been releasing NHIF, KRA and PAYE remittances to the government without paying the employees salaries.

The situation saw high number of patients visiting the facility turned down due to lack of services.
