Outcry as elderly couple arrested by police for selling Kabras Sugar

A man in Nairobi is seeking the release of elderly parents who are being held at the Shauri Moyo Police Station for selling Kabras Sugar.

The man whose identity has been protected is protesting the time with which his sickly parents are being held describing it as beyond the time specified by the law.

“They are being held at the police station for selling Kabras Sugar, they have documents showing who they bought it from and it’s legit business they operate,” he wrote.

He says his mother’s condition at the police station has deteriorated following the harsh conditions with which she is is being held at the police station.

“My mum’s Jane id 59 years old, my dad Stanley Karana is 69 years old. My parents are elderly and my mum is sickly, right now as i write this, she is sleeping on the floor at the police station,… Am very worried my mum spends another night there, her health is becoming worse by the da and i don’t want to lose her,e” he said.

It is not clear when the two were arrested but according to the son, they are being held at the police station beyond the time specified by the law.
