More than 200 people have been left homeless after fire burnt down their houses in Tassia Embakasi on Friday Morning.

The fire which burnt down the Mabati structures in Tassia near Harvest church reportedly started at 2 am.

Victims of the fire incident say that they suspect that the fire incident was caused by a gas cylinder that exploded from one of the houses.

“So many of us have been affected. All houses here have been burnt and we are now left in the cold,” said one of the victims.

“We suspect that the fire started from one of the houses after a gas cylinder exploded,” explained the victim.

The victims were unable to salvage their property from the fire incident.

“We tried to put out the fire ourselves but it overwhelmed us. All our items have now been burnt since we were unable to salvage our property.”

No one was injured in the fire incident. No fire firefighters arrived at the scene.
