During this period, Kenyans from all walks of life filled out applications in the hopes of securing a chance for permanent residency in the United States.

However, only 3,760 Kenyan applicants emerged as fortunate winners, a mere fraction of the total applicants.

Additionally, 143,000 applicants from various countries around the world have been registered and notified to apply for an immigrant visa at US embassies.

Simultaneously, the U.S. State Department disclosed that 143,000 applicants from various countries around the world have been registered and notified to apply for an immigrant visa at U.S. embassies.

This announcement comes even as only 55,000 visas are available for the specified period.

Not all people who win the lottery are allowed to migrate to the US, Some individuals fail to attain permanent residency due to mistakes in their application forms, suspicions of fraud, or inconsistencies in their educational backgrounds.

Additionally, once the 55,000-visa quota is met many are locked out.

Those who will get the green cards will have a right to work and live in the US and will be required to pay taxes.

To be eligible for an immigrant visa, lottery winners must meet specific criteria, including having a high school education or proof of two years of work experience in an occupation requiring two years of training or experience within the last five years.
