Over 5,000 vulnerable people to benefit from food aid

Over 5,000 vulnerable people in Obunga, Kisumu County are set to benefit from a food distribution programme launched by Shofco.

Peter Odera a supervisor from Shofco says that the 5,810 people are set to receive 4KGs of flour, one litre of cooking oil, 2KGs of Sugar and 2KGs of wheat flour.

Odera says that they have already selected the shops shops where the already registered people will receive the goods.

He says that the initiative is aimed at cushioning the vulnerable from the ravages of Covid-19.

“Today we have launched a food distribution program that will see 5,810 people get assisted under Shofco program. We understand COVID has hit many families but we are trying to assist them with what we have. In that shopping they will get 4kgs of flour, one litre of Salad, 2kgs of Sugar and 2kg wheat flour,” explained Odera.

Those selected will receive an SMS alerting them on the shop they will pick their goods from.

“We have selected some shops and distributed food to them. In total we have selected 11 shops with some stuff based on those places to aid on distribution,” he said.
