About 62,500 students in Nairobi are set to receive their bursaries tomorrow.
According to Nairobi County Education Executive Committee Member Jannet Ouko the county executive has sponsored 3000 and another 59,500 from the 85 wards.
“It is something that is really good. The funds are now ready for disbursement. In total the executive is looking at 3,000 children and sometimes we do above that. Another 59,500 comes from 85 wards.” She said.
Meanwhile the disbursement will be done through voucher a model that was established by former governor Mike Sonko who accused MCAs of stealing the funds.
“Unfortunately the former governor interfered with so many processes I think he had his own insecurities that affected him so much that he ended up thinking that everybody wanted to steal money but he had nothing to say or substantiate the same,” said Ouko.
“ But for these the proof had gone too far I could not revert it by the time I was coming back going forward we shall engage the MCAs and agree on the best way,” she added.
