- St. Anne’s Girls Secondary demands Ksh. 38,000 fee balance
As cost living continues to bite, many Kenyans are now finding it difficult to make their ends meet.
Abisai Oyando father to a form four student tells us how his child has been making several journeys back home for lack of school fees.
His daughter Grace Oyando is a form four candidate at St Annes’ Girls Secondary School.According Oyando he lost his job a while ago and things have been very thick for him.
He told Ghetto Radio News that his efforts to have the school accommodate the child as he looks for Ksh. 33,000 balance have been futile.
“Every time nalipa fees Ile kidogo nimepata naambiwa mtoto haweziingia shule lazima afanye clearance ya hiyo remaining fees balance to make the matter worse nilishakam nikakaa na headteacher nikamshow situation Niko nayo nikamshow Mimi Sina kazi job nilikua nayo iliisha..nikamshow wacha nijicommite nikipataka hata kidogo kidogo ntapeana,” Abisai Oyando said.
He has called on the well-wishers to intervene and help him have his daughter in school.
“Vile alifungua nilipeleka kidogo niko nayo lakini anytime anaenda anarudishwa nimebook mpaka appointment na huyo head teacher all in vain hata saa hii nimeambiwa hayuko ivo ivo. Mtoto Yuko form four hapa St Anne Secondary School,” Oyando added.

Government Capitation
Many questions however, remain unanswered as to whether head teachers are still allowed to send a candidate home for fees despite government one-time capitation plans.
Education Cs Ezekiel Machogu last released the funds on February this year.
“Every school will receive KSh. 22,444 per student admitted. All primary schools will receive Sh15,042 for every Grade 7 student. For primary schools, capitation will also be received for the learners. For junior secondary, the ministry is yet to get data on how many students were enrolled,” he said.
