0

A section of youths in Nairobi’s Pangani area is living in fear following illegal demolitions going on in the area.

The youths claim that some unknown people have embarked in a demolition spree in the area rendering them homeless.

Today morning, a number of them woke up to demolition of their structures by people who did not identify themselves.

“When they came, I was shocked. I took my children out and only managed to salvage a few things. Other household stuff like bed and gas were stolen,” cried one resident.

“I would advise the police, whenever you have a demolition issue please notify us,” cried another resident.

Pangani Sub County Commander Julius Kiragu who visited the scene of demolition has promised to conduct investigations.

“This is a case that has been in court for quite some time. An order was issued by the court that this place should be demolished and so as the police, we had to follow the court order,” said Kiragu.
