Parents hail Magoha’s move to bring back caning in schools

A section of parents have hailed the move by Education CS George Magoha to bring back caning in schools.

Parents who spoke to Ghetto Radio News say that lack of caning in schools has somehow contributed to the rising indicsipline cases in schools.
According to the parents, caning will help curb the cases of indiscipline in aschools and even at home.

“I support Magoha 100 percent because if they do nor bring caning back, our children will continue being unruly,” said one parent.

“They should bring back the cane to schools because as parents we were also caned and that is why we turned out this way,” said another parent.

Magoha during his visit in Kisii suggested that corporal punishemnt be brought back to schools in a bid to tame the violence cases that are fast rising in schools.

“Learners will not commit crimes and walk scot-free. We shall ensure that these situations are neutralised before they escalate. They must be caned and we shall authorise teachers to punish them,” Magoha said.

His sentiments come against a backdrop of cases of students burning dormitories and students attacking teachers with crude weapons.
