Mavoko based liquor Company,Patiala Distillers has threatened to take legal action against Mathira member of parliament and senator for destroying their products that were confiscated by the police.

Patiala through lawyer Danstan Omari, says that their products are good for human consumption.

The two contested  brands are ‘Diamond’ and ‘Flying Horse’ out of nine brands it produces.

According to company, the products meet all the standards and requirements under the constitution and employ over 6000 workers in the production and supply chain.

In a letter addressed to IPOA ,the company says the events of 21 at February were lawless and unwarranted.

At the same time Kenya Bureau of Standard (KEBS) says it has received complaints and directed the company to suspend the manufacturing of three of it’s products,a move that to he company says it’s in bad faith since all their products are manufactured under required strict standards.

MP Erick Wamumbi and senator Wahome Wamatiga led residents and destroyed bottles of alcohol.They claim that the products are not fit for human consumption.

“I want to warn those selling such brews we are coming for you. We know you cannot give it to your children yet [yet] you want our people to die. We are coming for you even in your bars,” said Wamatinga.

Police had seized the condemned alcohol during an operation in Karatina town labeling the brand of the confiscated alcohol as counterfeit.
