Singer Peter Msechu has released a tribute dubbed “Lala Salama” to the departed second president of Tanzania, Ali Hassan Mwinyi in record time, hours after Ali’s demise.
Opening the song is none other than Ali’s words of wisdom emphasizing on living a purposeful life and leaving a mark when the right time comes.
“Maisha ya mwanadamu ni hadithi tu hapa ulimwenguni basi eeh ndugu yangu kuwa na hadithi nzuri” partly goes his words.
Msechu then kicks off his singing with his powerful and commanding voice filled with sorrow. The burly singer further injects repetition while borrowing Ali’s words in his narration.

Msechu further notes Ali’s remarkable achievements as an astute leader worth paying homage to.
“Ali Hassan Mwinyi, Mwinyi, Ali Hassan Mwinyi pumzika salama babu, Ali Hassan Mwinyi, Mwinyi, Ali Hassan Mwinyi pumzika salama babu, ulisema katika dunia maisha ni hadithi, hadithi yako hakikisha ni njema…Baba, babu kiongozi mahiri, Tanzania uliipigania tutakukumbuka daima” sings Meschu partly.
In the second verse, Msechu notes how several leaders are also mourning. From the country’s current president, Dr. Samia Suluhu.
According to Msechu, Ali’s wise counsel and witty character will be greatly missed.
“Raisi Samia anakulilia, Tanzania imepoteza, Mama Siti anaomboleza sana…tutaumisi ucheshi wako, tutakumbuka hekima zako na busara zako” he continues.
Fans Reactions
Msechu’s tribute has since been received well with many noting his quickness in churning out the tribute. This comes barely two weeks ago when the former TPF(Tusker Project Fame) contestant churned out another tribute to fallen politician, Lowasa.
