Petition Claims Replay Of Barcelona vs PSG Showdown
A Real Madrid fan has started a petition claiming the replay of Barcelona and PSG match. Luis Melendo Olmedo began the petition on Friday pointing out mistakes made by referee Deniz Aytekin to have aided Louis Enrique’s side advance to the last eight of the Champions League competitions.
Barcelona produced a moment of magic by overturning a 4-0 Champions League first leg deficit to win 6-1 against Paris Saint Germain .
The magical comeback saw the Catalans put a record of the greatest comeback in the European competitions history.
The petition by the Madrid fan has reportedly gained 180,000 signatures for the replay.
The petition seeks a rematch between the two sides despite Barcelona advancing to the quarter final stage with an aggregate of 6-5 over the Paris based giants.
Barcelona were running riot before their home fans by scoring six goals and allowing only one goal by Edison Cavani past their shot stopper.
The petition by Luis Olmedo states: “I want to request a replaying of the Barcelona-PSG match.”
It then lists the reason as being: “Incidents that seriously damaged PSG. As a consequence of the refereeing of the German Deniz Aytekin who benefited Barcelona with his actions and his refereeing.
That is why I question the aptitude of the referee for his serious mistakes made during the match. I present evidence to anyone who wants to see them.” it read.
The incidents pointed out by the Madrid fan include Luis Suarez’s first goal which should have been disallowed for offside according to the petition filed.
However, PSG seem to have accepted the result following the absence of such appeal from the club.
Lack of response from the French bigwigs means there is no prospect of UEFA to order an unprecedented replay.
