NMS says that implementation of the plan will be done in collaboration with Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen).

“Our plans to establish an energy processing plant at the Dandora dumpsite are underway.  Implementation of this project will be undertaken in collaboration with Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KenGen),” said NMS.

If successful, Nairobi will join Durban in South Africa and Addis Ababa in Ethiopia in the league of cities that generate large scale electricity from garbage.

“Tendering of the plant will be done later this month, said NMS.
