Samwel Muthii Kariuki, alias Simon Kariuki has been arrested by police officers at Ruaka police station on offences related to motor vehicle theft and motor vehicle spare parts theft.
Kariuki has been conning unsuspecting Kenyans by pretending to be an Online taxi driver/Uber driver but ends up stealing and vandalizing people’s motor vehicles. Immediately you employ him as your driver, your car will either be found dumped by the road side and vandalized or gets stolen completely.
In 2021 Kariuki was reported at Sunton police station after removing most of the important spare parts of his bosses car.
While on the run the man continued operating as a criminal, while pretending to be an online taxi driver.
Kariuki stole a car from Ruaka, vandalized it and dumped it along the Southern Bypass. The case was reported at Sunton Police Station. In another incident, he again did the same thing to another car and dumped it at Kabete during the same period.
This year in July, Kariuki took another motor vehicle through pretense that he was an online taxi driver. He blocked the motor vehicle owner and attempted to transfer the car to another woman in Kajiado. Through efforts from the DCI HQs, the car was recovered at the woman’s home in Kajiado and a manhunt for the suspect began.
This case was reported at Central police station.
The suspect also has a similar case at Central reported in the month of February, 2023. In this incident, the suspect used forged documents to con the motor vehicle owner and dumped his car in Gitaru.
