Kenya Women’s Premier League champions, Kenya Police Bullets FC, are set to make their debut on the continental stage against hosts Commercial Bank of Ethiopia.

The match is part of the fixtures released by CAF for the Cecafa Women’s Zonal Qualifiers, scheduled to take place from August 17 to September 4 in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

Other teams in the pool are Yei Joint FC (South Sudan), Warriors Queens (Zanzibar) and Rayon Sport (Rwanda).

In Group B will feature Simba Queens, PVP Buyenzi (Burundi), Kawempe Muslim Ladies (Uganda) and FAD Djibouti.

Kenya Police Bullets FC earned their spot in the qualifiers after winning the FKF Women’s Premier League in June this year. Police are following in the footsteps of previous Kenyan representatives, Vihiga Queens.

The winner of the Cecafa qualifier will represent the region in the CAF Women’s Champions League later in the year.

Uganda’s Kawempe Muslim Ladies are the reigning champions, while Vihiga Queens and Simba Queens have also made a significant impact in recent tournaments.

In the first edition held in Egypt in 2021, Vihiga Queens failed to advance past the group stages, securing only one win against Morocco’s AS FAR.

In 2022, Simba Queens reached the semi-final stage, where they lost 1-0 to Mamelodi Sundowns.

This upcoming tournament presents a significant opportunity for Kenya Police Bullets FC to make their mark on the continental stage and continue the legacy of Kenyan women’s football in international competitions.
