Police intercept Ksh. 1.5 Million bhang transported as omena

Police in Kisumu have impounded bhang worth a street value of KSh.1.5M that was being ferried into Kisumu town as “Omena”.

The bhang packed in fifteen sacks was hidden between some thirty bags of Omena inside a lorry.

Kisumu Central OCPD James Ngetich says that the officers from night patrol arrested suspicious lorry past curfew hours and ordered the driver to Kondele police station for questioning.

He says at the station the driver’s companion fled causing more suspicion.

” The officers arrested the driver and immediately placed him in a cell. Upon searching the lorry, they confirmed that it was carrying 30 bags of omena and 15 bags of bhang.

It alleged that they were ferrying the bhang to Mamboleo Estate.

The OCPD further stated that the investigations have commenced to establish the source and the recipient of the bhang.
