Police officer based at Njoro police station has shot and killed a female patient seeking treatment at the Njoro Sub County Hospital before taking his life.
According to a police report, the 29 year old female identified as Mary Nyambura visited Njoro Sub County Hospital yesterday at around midnight with a fracture on her right leg.
Nyambura was allegedly assaulted by her boyfriend.
While being treated, the armed officer known as Benard Sivo who is believed to be the boyfriend then entered the hospital and shot the patient severally.
“Today at around 0000hrs one patient namely Mary Nyambura aged 29yrs visited the hospital with a fracture on her right leg complaining that she was assaulted by his boyfriend. While receiving treatment, a police while armed entered the facility and shot her severally,” reads the police report.
Twenty nine year old Sivo who was on his third shift cell sentry duties reportedly excused himself to make a call outside the report office with his AK47 rifles and 30 rounds of ammunition.
He pursued the girlfriend to the hospital, shot her and she died on the spot.
Sivo then reportedly went back to the office where he shot himself dead.
“The officers were mobilized to disarm him but unfortunately shot himself on the chin and the bullet exited on the upper forehead and died instantly,” the report read.
The report shows that the scene was visited by the subcounty commander , DCIO OCS Njoro and a team from officers from scene of crime Nakuru.
The bodies removed to Egerton awaiting for postmortem and the scene with a magazine of 11 round of 7.62mm special recovered from the scene.
