A police officer has been shot dead by a colleague in Kisumu Ndogo area in Korogocho slums.
The officer was reportedly hit by a stray bullet when officers were firing in the area to disperse residents who were trying to free a suspect arrested by police.
The bullet caught the officer in the chest.
Area residents have however refuted the stray bullet claims saying that the officer was envious of his colleague who was recently promoted.
The officer is currently being held at the Kariobangi Police Station as investigations continue.
Meanwhile two suspected thugs were today morning shot dead in Nairobi’s Kayole area.
The two suspects were shot dead after a serious fire exchange between the police and the thugs near Kayole junction.
One police officer reportedly suffered serious gun shot wounds and was rushed to the Mama Lucy Hospital.
An AK 47 rifle stolen from police officers in Kayole last month was recovered from the thugs.
