A businessman in Kayole’s Soweto slums Moses Mwangi is crying foul after police officers broke into his bar and stole money and beer.

The robbery which was captured on CCTV shows about six police officers armed with AK 47 firearms break into the Mossy Tavern Bar and restaurant.

Once inside, one officer breaks through the bar grill and goes through the cash drawers, steals money and also takes crates of beer and passing them to his colleagues waiting on the other end.

The owner of the bar Moses Mwangi says that he had closed at 9pm as usual and had not broken any curfew laws.

“I have all the requirements to operate a hotel and a bar including Covid-19 certificates for my employees. How will we operate in such an environment where those who are supposed to protect us are the ones frustrating us?” posed Mwangi.

Mwangi says that the officers not only stole beer and cash but also destroyed his property.

Three clients who had booked a lodging at the premise and an attendant were also tergased and removed from their beds.

The area OCPD Kayole Division and current Njiru subcounty commander Mr. Paul Wambogo has denied to comment on the matter.
