Police have rescued a woman and her two year old daughter who were kidnapped one week ago in Sidindi, Siaya County.
Five suspected criminals have also been arrested in connection with the abduction.
The 20 year old woman and her two year old daughter were staying at a relative’s house in Sidindi area before their abduction.
“Acting on intelligence, the officers raided two separate houses within Luanda township in Siaya where the two victims had been confined. Five suspects who detectives established were behind the heinous felony were nabbed during the rescue operation,” said the police.
The suspected thugs who were arrested include an 18 year old girl who had been given the task to take care of the two year old baby since the mother was being held in a separate room.
“The five aged between 18 and 29 years include an 18-year-old woman who kept custody of the juvenile as the mother was held separately over unestablished motives,” further stated the police.
A Toyota Premio which had been used in the abduction was also recovered.
Further investigations are ongoing as detectives believe the gang is behind a spate of violent robberies reported within the County.
