Trade ties between Kenya and Uganda are expected to continue improving with the ongoing investments between the two countries.
According to Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni the infrastructure developments underway will help boost the trade relations.
”In the coming years ,a lot of cargo will move from the roads to the railway and fuel will move from the roads to the pipelines with the completion of the standard gauge railway reducing the journey to Uganda to 24 hours”said Museveni
The Ugandan president is on a 2 day state visit to the country where he is expected to tour the port of Mombasa and later on board the SGR to to Nairobi.
President Kenyatta on his side said there is need for more border points to be created between Kenya and Uganda to allow free movement.
”More borders need to be created to help enhance trade and ties of communities living on the border which will help reduce the issue of illegal immigrants.”Said Kenyatta
He has also said the issue of Migingo has been fully discussed by ministers from both countries with a work plan put in place to implement how the resources will be shared to benefit the residents.
President Museveni will be the first head of state to travel from Mombasa to Nairobi using the Madaraka express.
