Five storey building that collapsed in Huruma estate claiming the life of three has put the county government of Nairobi in a tight corner on why the building was never demolished after an audit was done in the area and recommendation for the same given.
In 2017 National Construction Authority earmarked 57 buildings for demolition and described them as most dangerous but the county went ahead to demolish only two leaving 55 buildings untouched.
Residents who spoke to Ghetto Radio News faulted the county government for negligience and corruption.
Meanwhile the county executive committee Charles Kerich has defended the county over the matter promising another buildings audit in Huruma before demolition resumes.
Other areas facing the same challenge are Zimmerman,Githurai and Pipeline.
