Prison officers on high alert after power outage disrupts court proceedings
Services at the Milimani courts were halted for more than an hour on Tuesday afternoon following a power outage.
Magistrates were forced to cut short proceedings, and prison officers were on high alert to ensure inmates who had been brought to court did not escape.
They kept watch over them in the dimly-lit rooms until power was restored.
Many questioned why there was no generator to ensure seamless operations of court proceedings.
Judicial Service Commission Milimani office supretendent Mr Moses Koipat told Ghetto Radio scribe that they are working to restore normalcy.
We are pumping diesel from the underground tank right now. Within another two to three minutes power will be back.
“The blackout is not only in Milimani. It’s the whole area even Afya house the generators are on.
Our generator ilivuta hewa sasa tunatoka airlock within another two minutes itakuwa sawa”.Said Mr Koipat.
