Nairobi county assembly MCAs are now calling on President Uhuru Kenyatta to call to order a section of his officers who are now being accused of frustrating the operations of the Nairobi Metropolitan Services under Director General Mohammed Badi.
Addressing the media today Minority whip Peter Jateso Imwatok alleged that some statehouse operatives are out to ensure that the NMS do not work as anticipated by the president.
According to him Solicitor General Ken Ogeto does not have any authority by law to annul a legislative matter at the assembly and that his recent remarks on the supplementary bill 2020 were uncalled for.
‘‘Very soon we shall shame them how can a solicitor general purport to direct the assembly ?…The net effect of these choreographed actions in the grounding or slowing down the operations of NMS hence We can not see NMSs’ out put as directed by the president ..things are becoming thick and as members of the assembly we shall not sit and wait.’’ He said.
The same were echoed by Kayole central MCA Jeremiah Karani alias Morefire who urged the president to act swiftly and save NMS.
‘‘Sonko had his time but he failed us , now its time for NMS let General Badi Work , we want to see roads, water , garbage being collected at our wards.’’ He said.
Ogeto recently took issue with the recent passed supplementary budget saying the MCAs did follow the procedure and even its gazzettement.
The Solicitor General stated that the publication is, therefore, a nullity and ought to be rectified appropriately.
“It is therefore inconceivable how the Bill was published in the Kenya Gazette when it was still pending before the County Assembly,” Ogeto stated.
