Public Schools to feature in the11th Edition of Obuya Cricket Tournament


CRICKETPublic schools are set to take part in this year’s edition of Obuya cricket Tournament set to kick off Wednesday 17th August at,Hodari grounds in Nairobi.

The 11th Edition of the tournament has attracted 20 teams from Obuya Cricket Academy and Simba Union.

The tournament will feature different age groups including U-11,U-13 and U-15 categories.U-17 and U-19 will play at a later date following preparations for the triangular series match that will be played by three countries, Kenya,Rwanda and Qatar.

Sticking to his commitment to develop Cricket from the Junior Level David Obuya,the founder of Obuya Cricket Academy says the number of schools participating in the tournament  have been reduced giving “first priority” to Public Schools.

The former right hand cricketer says the Public primary school teams will not mix with those from academies in a competition that will be followed

“We are giving public schools an opportunity and more of a slogan in the tourney than any other time because there is much of a talent in them that needs support”.

“They will be ranked and awarded according to their performance.”

The Public Schools include Muthangari,Kawangware,Jericho,Rabai and Lavington Primary schools who have been kitted with sports equipments by Mabati Rolling Mills who are the sponsoring the tournament for a second year running.

The finals of the matches which will be played at Hodari grounds and Simba Unions is slated for Saturday 20th August.
