Pumwani FC and Ziwani All Stars were the first teams to book their spaces in the quarter finals of the 46th Edition of Koth Biro football tournament.
Pumwani beat Rock City 4-4 on a penalty shootout after the match ended on a 1-1 draw at the final whistle.
Home team Ziwani All Stars delivered a 1-0 win against Kariobangi Legends to an expectant crowd.
The sole goal of the match was netted in by Evans Mieno via a penalty causing a wild celebration from the crowd.
Eastleigh South United are expected to play against Kingston FC today (Monday) at 11 am while Country Bus will face Nyoi FC at 3pm.
Biafra Kamaliza are expected to play against Riyadh United on Tuesday at 11 am while Leads United will face Black Mamba at 3pm.
The quarter finals of the tournament are expected to take place on the 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th of September while the semis on the other hand are slated for the 23rd and 24th of September.
The tournament’s Chairman Paul Ojenge has thanked the teams for maintaining discipline and delivering good play during the tournament. He has also thanked Koth Biro fans for always turning out in large numbers to support their teams while at the same time maintaining discipline.
“The tournament has been going on well and running very smoothly so far. We thank the teams for maintaining discipline and playing good and entertaining matches. The fans have also been turning up in large numbers, and for that, we thank them too. We are however still appealing to sponsors willing to come and support these young boys to please do so,” said Ojenge.
