Confusion has rocked the Kenya National Union of Teachers KNUT over the election exercise with a section of its leadership trashing a directive given by Secretary General Wilson Sossion postponing the election.
The group led by KNUT Chairman Collins Oyuu has even alluded that embattled Sossion is not ready for the ballot.
According to Oyuu the elections date is intact and that the directive by Sossion yesterday postponing the same was a cowardly move and a sense of defeat.
A letter seen by Ghetto Radio News shows that the union was cleared yesterday by Ministry of Health to proceed with the elections as planned.
“Postponement of election is not true our brother is just playing politics, the process of conducting elections was planned when Sossion himself was there by the National executive council and we were shocked to learn that he advised the ministry of health otherwise ..if at all Sossion is not ready for this elections let him quit peacefully,” Oyuu said.
Yesterday there was a communication from Knut headquarters stating that the elections were postponed due to Covid-19 surge in the country.
“The elections shall be conducted on 26 June as slated at Stima Club Ruaraka as from 8.am and the measures are well in place,” he added.
