Nakuru based female emcee Veryl Akinyi Odiedo commonly known as Veryl Mkali Wao has sent a stern warning to fellow rappers both male and female to up their game or simply hang the microphone.
Veryl made the remarks during her Tuesday interview on Hip Hop Republik hosted by Ghetto Radio’s Kutizzo Matatizzo.
“Game haitaki msee msoft inataka msee akona thick skin hivo ndivo mi nime learn so far na ningetaka wasee wasikuje kwa industry na ile perspective ya it’s a bed of roses apa ni either you rap or you go home lazima u grind like me nasemanga like industry si ya babako au mamako apa hakuna msee atakubembeleza,” she said.
The hardcore rapper further appealed to female acts to put their best feet forward by being disciplined, having self-respect and working with a team aligned with their dreams as the music industry has hurdles before one gets to enjoy the cake.
“Ni noma so msee asikuje na ile perspective ya nimekuja kumake it, nimekuja kupata fame and stuff, before hizo vitu zikuje kuna so many obstacles na ya kwanza inatokana na discipline na kujiheshimu kama mwanamke, hizo vitu mbili ukifuata discipline na kujirespect na ukiwa na the right team behind you you’re good to go, “She added.
