Rapper Nicki Minaj Pays heftily for Sampling Chapman’s song

Trinidadian American Hip hop Rapper, Singer, Song writer, Actress and Model Nicki Minaj has lost a lawsuit in which she was sued for copyright infringement by Grammy Award winner Soul Artiste Tracy Chapman.

Chapman stated that the Rapper sampled her song “Baby Can I Hold You” without her consent.

Chapman is known to be protective of her work and has never authorised her songs for sampling.

She had earlier rejected Nicki’s request to sample her song “Sorry” a collaboration she did with Rapper Nas.

Infact,it ended being pulled out of Minaj’s 2018 Album.

However it ended up being leaked on  Hot 97 a New York Radio station hosted by DJ  Funk Master Flex.

The female hip hop star was charged and she lost the lawsuit with Chapman pocketing $450,000 in settlement.
