Maringo residents in Makongeni Constituency yesterday repulsed a move by alleged land grabbers to grab a section of the Martin Luther Primary School.

The residents led by area MP George Aladwa sent away the grabbers who had already demolished a section of the school using bulldozers.

The demolition of the school allegedly happened at in the wee hours of the night during curfew time under heavy guard of the police.

Aladwa claims that the land grabber behind the demolition hides under the name Thabiti.

“The truth is Martin Luther is a Public Primary School in Makadara. And this is around the fourth time these land grabbers are attempting to grab this piece of land,” said Aladwa.

“Aladwa is questioning how the the demolishers were allowed to conduct the demolitions at night despite the ongoing curfew,” he said.

Demolished by the land grabber was the school’s workshop located near the school’s field.

Parents now fear for the safety of their children following the invasion by the land grabbers.

“They have demolished our children’s workshop. Do they even know how long it will take for us to build a new workshop?” lamented a parent.

“Our children are set to go back to school next week, this incident will instil fear in them and even affect their learning,’ she said.

Martin Luther Primary is a public school that was built in the early 90s that sits on a five acre piece of land.

It serves the low income earning residents of Maringo in Makadara Constituency.
