American born Nigerian afro beat star, David Adedeji Adeleke popularly known as Davido has revealed that he charges 100k USD for collaborations.
In one of his recent interviews, Davido stated that he pockets $100k for a collabo and only if he knows the artist.
“100K USD if I know the artist,” states Davido.
The musician is currently enjoying the success of his fourth album, Timeless which was released on March 31,2023 through a collaborative effort by his label Davido Music Worldwide and Columbia Records.
Record Breaking Album
Davido’s ‘Timeless’ album broke the record for the biggest streams in a day on Boomplay at 7.25 million streams eclipsing the previous record set by fellow Nigerian Burna Boy’s ‘Love, Damini’ at 3.38 million streams.
It features songs like Unavailable, Godfather and feel among others.
Davido is not new to setting standards, in 2018 he won the Best International Act at the BET Awards, and became the first African artist to receive his award on the main stage.
His collaborative piece with Chris Brown ‘Blow my mind’ also set new heights by becoming the first music video out of Nigeria to ammase two million views on YouTube within 24 hours.
The If hitmaker was also the first and youngest African solo act to sell out the world’s busiest music arena,20,000 capacity O2 Arena.
His song ‘Fall’ is currently the most viewed video by a Nigerian artist on YouTube.
Released 5 years ago, the song has ammased 264 million views and still counting.
It was also the first music video by a Nigerian artist to attain 100 million views on YouTube in 2018.
With a dollar retailing at 134 shillings in Kenya,This means that an artist will need to cough around 13,400,000/- to earn a collaboration with Davido.
