Pop star Rihanna has urged fans to delete Snap chat after the social media app ran an advert making light of her 2009 domestic violence incident with then boyfriend Chris Brown.
Snapchat has apologised and taken down an advertisement for an online game called “Would You Rather!” which showed pictures of Rihanna and Brown with the captions “Slap Rihanna” and “Punch Chris Brown”.
The pop star’s worldwide fan base have now set up a hash tag dubbed ‘boycott snap chat with Rihanna’ in a bid to join the pop star in her fight against domestic violence discrimination.
Rihanna was so angered by Snap Chat’s advert that she openly refused an apology over the incident
“Now SNAPCHAT I know you know you ain’t my fav app out there! But I’m just trying to figure out what the point was with this mess!,I’d like to call it ignorance but I know you ain’t that dumb. You spent money to animate something that would intentionally bring shame to DV victims and made a joke of it!!!,” she said
She added that the move discriminated upon women, men and children who have been victims of domestic violence.
“This isn’t about my personal feelings, cause I don’t have much of them. But all women, children and men that have been victims of DV in the past and especially the ones who have haven’t made it out yet. you let us down.Throw the whole app-oligy away.” he added.
Rihanna’s fans on social media are supporting the star with some claiming they have already deleted the app.
