Alcohol drugs threats to national security

Meanwhile Interior Cabinet Secretary Prof. Kithure Kindiki has categorized the trade and abuse of illicit alcohol and drugs among the top national security threats after terrorism and banditry.
Speaking on Friday, Prof. Kindiki promised to mount a vicious war to tackle the illicit alcohol and drug menace which he says is a threat to the country’s future.
“…we have identified what we consider the greatest threats to our country’s future. Among the three top national threats, is trade, use and abuse of illicit alcohol as well as psychotropic substances and drugs. This is a problem that will impair Kenya in a big way if it is not dealt with…,” said Kindiki.

The Interior CS was speaking in Nyeri during a stakeholders’ consultative forum on the menace of illicit alcohol and drug abuse in the country. The forum was spearheaded by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
