Deputy President William Ruto has endorsed a proposal by Nairobi Senator and Governor Candidate Johnson Sakaja’s to implement a school feeding programme in all primary schools.
DP Ruto said the Kenya Kwanza will implement the project in schools across Kenya, to increase retention of pupils and ensure better diet did the children.
“It is doable for all our children not to have to go out looking for lunch or even go without food by implementing this programme across Kenya,” Ruto said.
He was speaking at Mukarara Primary school in Waithaka area, Nairobi where a school feeding programme is being implemented by a nongovernmental organization Food4Education.
Also present were Dagoretti South MP John Kiarie, Waithaka area MCA Anthony Kiragu and several other members of the Nairobi County Assembly.
Sakaja has pledged to roll out the programme in Nairobi’s over 200 public primary schools.
