President William Ruto now wants voting for the Finance Bill 2023 to be open at the National Assembly.

“Nimeskia watu wa opposition wakisema yakwamba siku ya finance bill kile mjumbe ajulikane amefanya kazi namba gani, Mimi nakubaliana yakwamba kila mjumbe ajulikane amepiga Kura wapi,” said Ruto.

Ruto who attended Environment Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya’s homecoming in Narok County described the bill as a defining moment for Kenya.

“This is a defining moment for the republic of Kenya. Tumekuwa na uwongo mingi kwa siasa. It must come to an end,” he said.

According to Ruto, the finance bill carries with it solutions to the unemployment crisis in the country.

Gachagua calls out media

Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua accused the media of inciting the public against the bill.

“Nyinyi watu ya magazeti pia nyinyi ni wachochezi. We must call you out. How stupid do you think Kenyans are? If you write about mount Kenya MPs who are about 80, then inside the whole narrative you put only one,” said Gachagua.

Opposition leaders have called for open voting in parliament to ensure that all its members vote to reject the bill.
