Nairobi Senator and gubernatorial candidate Johnson Sakaja has promised business operators in Nairobi only one license.
According to Sakaja, this will help reduce the hustle of starting up a business and also deal with corruption in the license sector.
“If you go to businesses, you will find a big board with licenses, that will end.We are going to break it down to one license,” says Hon.Sakaja.
This move according to him, will ease business operators from the hustle of having to register for numerous licenses which has seen them being harassed and extorted and instead have a single-unified business permit that caters for all the services a business is supposed to register for.
The Nairobi Senator linked the dropping of revenue in the county to the manner in which revenue collectors use while getting their dues from business operators around Nairobi which has been going on for a long time and will be stopped with this move once he gets in office as the governor.

“The reason why revenue has gone down in Nairobi is because of that harassment and policing nature behind the collection of revenue,”says Hon.Sakaja.
Speaking at an engagement meeting with stakeholders of the Kenya Private Sector Alliance(KEPSA) while discussing the proposed private sector economic manifesto for Nairobi, Sakaja noted that the best way to deal with corruption is by digitizing the issuance of these single-unified business permits to reduce human interaction with cash.
