Sakaja Promises To Safeguard Hawkers Interests, To Construct 20 New Markets If Elected
Nairobi Senator and Governor aspirant Johnson Sakaja has promised to construct 20 new markets across Nairobi if elected Nairobi Governor.
Sakaja who was speaking while touring Ngara Market also assured Nairobi residents and business community that his administration will not demolish markets and chase hawkers from their bases of operations.
The senator also stated that he will ensure that every trader is allocated a space in the new markets.
He gave a stern warning to Nairobi County government officers found harassing hawkers.
“Enforcement officers have two months, after which they will be required to facilitate the small traders instead of harassing them,” Sakaja said.
“We will enact policies that will offer a growth opportunities and environment suitable for business within Nairobi County.”
He has asked voters to vote for the entire UDA line up for Nairobi including Senatorial aspirant Bishop Margaret Wanjiru and Women Representative Millicent Omanga. He was accompanied by UDA Starehe MP aspirant Simon Mbugua and Ngara Ward MCA Chege Mwaura who is defending his seat on a UDA ticket.
