Mugithi singer and cop Samidoh has launched his foundation “Samidoh Foundation” in a state of the art setting at the Parklands Sports Club in Nairobi. The evening also doubled up as a fundraiser with millions raised.
In attendance were members from the political class, corporate, business community and creative industry among others.
Mugithi and Benga tunes ruled the evening with the band belting out a number.
A buffet was also on offer with appetites being taken care of.
There were light speeches from friends notably the political class whom had owned the function.
Nominated Senator Caren Nyamu who’s inseparable with Samidoh spoke well of Samidoh’s benevolence.
Cabinet Secretary of Sports, Arts and Culture, Ababu Namwamba promised Samidoh support from his ministry. The youthful minister termed Samidoh a ‘Perfect Balance’ for his double victory in education and talent wise.
Samidoh gave his moving speech which was filled with gratitude.
He cited togetherness in creating wellness.
“A community united in benevolence… together let’s create a symphony of change” he stated partly.
Samido’s documentary was also aired with the audience getting a glimpse of Samido’s sheer determination to excel against all odds.
From loosing his parents, being raised by the community to later becoming victorious, it bore it all.
It also captured Samidoh’s humility and kindness through his avenues of giving back to the society.
His foundation has been in operation for quite sometime now with needy students getting sponsorships.
Samidoh also sang his heart out while strumming his guitar.
Soon followed the Deputy President, Rigathi Gachagua who gave his speech.
He appealed for artists to practice a saving culture so as to enjoy their sunset days.
He also noted Samidoh’s heart of giving likening him to his wife’s heart Dr. Rigathi Gachagua who has dedicated her time in saving the boy child.
Gachagua further ran the fundraiser kicking off with the president’s 1 million shillings donation.
The deputy president added his 1 million shillings contribution with other attendants following suit with their donations.
