Education Cabinet George Magoha has directed parents to engage their children with useful tasks as schools close this week.
The seven week closure will allow KCPE and KCSE candidates to sit for their national exams.
Addressing the media Magoha urged parents to ensure that children are engaged on essential activities to prevent them from engaging in social injustices.
“ First I want to thank our parents and teachers who have played a big role by ensuring those in day schools are properly taken care of and properly masked. I further request them to prepare to receive them back. Engage your children with useful tasks and spend most of your time with them,” he said.
He also encouraged the candidates to prepare well for the exams that will start urging them not to panic.
“Examination classes that is, Standard eight and form fours preparing for their exams. I take this opportunity to share with you the message from president Uhuru Kenyatta success wishes. Young minds are quick to recover from the effect of COVID- 19. What you have covered is what on that paper. Nothing more is required hence no call for alarm,” concluded Magoha.
