As Kenya continues to fight COVID-19 , the senate is now pushing for Community Health workers Bill geared towards catering for the welfare of community health volunteers who have now become champions in the fight against Coronavirus at community level.
In an Interview with Ghetto Radio News , the bill Sponsor senator Agnes Zani says the bill provides a proper frame work to county governments on how best they can actually remunerate community health workers as they play a key role in our communities.
‘‘The bill is at the advanced stages and we are currently receiving memorandums from different stakeholders. The bill is also focusing on the best ways CHVs can be hired be it through barazas or even communal identity.’’Zani said.
He further rallied her fellow senators to give the bill correct political stab saying it will benefit counties and communities at large.
‘‘We discussed it last year and we all agree that it is a good one, community health volunteers is our direct link with the community. We must protect them and that can only be done through lawful structures,’’ she added.
