Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna today has stated that he has two issues with the Social Health Bill currently and he will defend it before the Senate through his twitter account.
This come after several bills have been passed in the parliamentary hearings increasing the rate of taxation to the citizens of Kenya which has made life so difficult since the new government took over.

He stated that the two issues he has with Social Health Insurance Bill are it doesn’t say how much premium Kenyan’s will pay and it also requires current employees of NHIF to reapply for their position once the bill passes.
Through a letter which he wrote today to The Clerk of the Senate which is notify that MPs should intend to move the following amendments to the Social Health Insurance Bill,2023,National Assembly Bills No.58 of 2023 ,at the Committee stage supported by Clause 27 which state that Clause 27 of the bill be amended should be on a graduated scale and not exceed two thousand shillings per month as indicated in sub clause 2A(a) and (b) respectively.
The Bill also state that the person who is immediately before the commencement of this Act must be an employee of the Fund under the National Insurance Fund Act (now repealed) shall be an employee of the Authority as if appointed under this Act.
Also all the benefits accruing to an employee under the National Health Insurance Fund Act(now repealed) shall continue to accrue to that employee under this Act.
He also added that he has prepared amendments to cap deductions at a maximum of two thousands kenya shillings and to provide for automatic absorption of the current staff of NHIF into the new scheme.
