Kiambu Senator Karugo Wa Thangwa is now proposing for amendment of the Public Holiday Bill to allow Kenyans have an extra day if a holiday falls on a Tuesday or Thursday.
Thangwa is proposing that if a holiday falls on a Tuesday, the preceding day Monday be declared a holiday and when it falls on a Thursday, Friday be declared a holiday.
“Ladies and gentlemen I want to introduce to you Public Holidays Amendment Bill that proposes that when a public holiday falls on a Tuesday the preceding day which is always a Monday should be a public holiday.
“But if the public holiday falls on a Thursday a succeeding day which is always Friday also becomes a public holiday ladies and gentlemen that what we call Holliday economics,” said Karugo.

According to the senator the bill if approved to become a law it will boost the economy of this country by giving both domestic and foreign tourists a time to travel to different parts of the country also giving workers enough time to rest.
“This will give workers ambient time to rest, recharge and prioritize their wellbeing both physical and mentally. It will also give a room for quality with loved ones, celebration of traditions and then opportunity for travel and tourism, which will promote domestic tourism” he added.
If the Karugo economy bill will be amended Huduma Day which will be on 10th October and jamuhuri Day which will be on Tuesday.
