“Our biggest crisis is Sexual violence.I have reported 178 cases of GBV and SBV in a period of one month. This clearly indicates that the cases are very high. One person maybe violated up-to 4 times and no serious action is taken,”Mary narrates.

Economic strain
The increase in this cases has been brought by the tough economic times.
As the economy faces hardship, financial instability becomes the breeding grounds for vulnerable people .
The absence of alternatives in the area of employment leads many to sex work, which enhances the risks of being abused.
Barriers encountered
Despite these efforts, a significant barrier to progress persists: the inaction and irresponsibility of men who are unwilling to own up to their mistakes. Regardless of their job, women deserve respect and recognition.
“ It is paramount that every person is seen as a human being regardless of their position in the society,”Mary added.
Unfortunately, community atmosphere often fuels sexism and violence against sex workers.
Mary asked for more attention on the concrete actions needed to protect the security and welfare of sex workers, including the legal protection and police investigations.
