The Government will conduct a thorough verification process before paying 9% of hospitals still demanding a payment of above Kes10 million from the Social Health Authority(SHA).

Through a press statement on Wednesday,President Dr. William Ruto revealed that,the verification committee will be gazetted by the Cabinet Secretary for Health Dr. Deborah Barasa within a week to oversee the process.
The president noted that, the committee will conducts its mandate within a period of 90 days,after which a payment plan will be agreed upon.
The head of State pointed out that,by the time the National Health Insurance Fund(NHIF) was wound up in November 22,2024,it had a whooping debt of Kes33 billion of which undisputed claims of Kes18.2 billion have been paid by SHA up to January 31,2025.
Acknowledging the challenges facing SHA,He reiterated the Government’s commitment to providing Universal health Coverage to every Kenyan without discrimination.
“I would like to assure all Kenyans that any challenges being experienced in the implementation of Taifa Care are being attended to and resolved,”President Ruto assured.
Meanwhile,while defending the SHA system ownership after the auditor general said its not owned by the Kenyan Government,Senior economic advisor Moses Kuria stated that the Digital Health Authority is the sole owner of the health data in question.
He clarified that, the data is not stored abroad,as some Kenyans had claimed.
